WHY PIONEER TECHNICAL INSTITUTE
The institute addresses the plight of unemployment
and underemployment problems which are rampant in the country.
Pioneer provides broad competence based education and training, stimulating talents of every trainee for any further horizontal and vertical mobility in education and trainings.
Prepares trainees for both formal and informal employment (self-employment) as the institute`s motto “SELF RELIANCE” which lays out the aims of the training at the center.

The training includes skills, production and entrepreneurship, which stresses on 75% of hands on job learning and a 25% of theory.
All courses offered have production units which offer services and products to the public for hire or purchase. All trainees participate here under the instructors` supervision and also train in customer care.
ACCREDITATION
The training at the institute follows two curricula (syllabi) one from Directorate of Industrial Training
(DIT) for competence and the other from UBTEB both of Ministry of Education and Sports.
Therefore, on completion of the course, trainees sit for Trade Test Exams (skills/practical competence based exams) of DIT and UBTEB.
This means that on completion of any course a successful trainee receives two certificates and a testimonial from the industry/Organisation where the trainee had the Industrial training.
Admission
Male and Female students are admitted either as boarders or day scholars. Admission to any of the courses is throughout the calendar year.
Primary 7 Leavers with an aggregate between 4 to 28 points are admitted on Government bursary between January and February of each year as day scholars.
